Become a Dad

16 February 2010

Dear friends,

God has been so good to us at Living Hope. His faithfulness is seeing us through at Living Hope. Good news - we have not yet had to cut the salaries, nor retrench anyone because of your generosity.

Let me give you an update with regards to our Life Skills program. You will remember that we had a $347,000 per annum cut from the US government. We managed Living Hope very carefully during 2009 and made every possible saving to ensure that no jobs have been cut, nor have there been any salary decreases in any ministry of Living Hope. Those who left voluntarily due to various personal circumstances have not been replaced and this has meant that the Life Skills Department has resized from 24 Life Skill Educators to 17 fulltime and 1 part-time Life Skill Educator. As a result some of the programs in the schools and after school have been adjusted to cope with the smaller staff compliment.

In the past, our Life Skill Educators were in the schools all morning. With the need to rethink everything, we also saw areas, other than schools, that needed growth and attention in our community. As of January 2010, we have split our morning ministry into 4 new teams: Schools, Teens, Preschools and Parents. We’re reaching a wide range of needs and ages through the new layout. We’re still doing afternoon clubs now among Children and Teens n the 6 communities where Living Hope works: Red Hill, Ocean View, Mountain View, Masi, Capricorn and Overcome.
